Small Boat Program

Sugden Sunday Sailing is a great way to get out on a sailboat with an experienced skipper and to learn how to sail.  It's held at the Collier County Sailing Center in Sugden Regional Park on beautiful Lake Avalon, and everyone is welcome!

Event Fees & Registration

Adult, GCSC Member $20
Adult, Non-Member $35
Child, accompanied by a paying adult No charge

Paid by credit card or cash at the event.

Registration is required, so we have enough boats rigged, enough skippers and enough food for everyone.  Tap a date in the calendar to register, and please register everyone who's coming.

Skippers: all skippers must pass an on the water review before taking members out.

The Collier County Sailing Center, where we hold Sugden Sundays, runs its own programs all season long.  They're a great next step after a Sugden Sunday, or a way to get out on the water during the week.  These aren't GCSC events, so you sign up and pay with the Sailing Center directly.

Adult Learn to Sail

Saturdays · 9am to 11:30am · $150

Adult Learn to Sail gives adults the opportunity to learn the basics of sailing or to work on improving their skills.  See the class dates and sign up on the County's website, or scan the code with your phone.

Private Sailing Lessons

By appointment

The Sailing Center offers private sailing lessons and will schedule your instruction on dates and times that suit you.  Email Barbara Johnson at the Sailing Center for more information and to book a lesson.

Hobie Cat Lessons & Rentals

Wednesdays & Thursdays · 12pm to 4pm

Take a private Hobie Cat lesson, or rent a Hobie and sail on your own on Lake Avalon.

  • $50/hr lesson
  • $25/hr rental

You must pass an on the water review before renting a boat.

Veterans & Wounded Warriors Sailing

Wednesdays · 11am to 2pm · No charge

A day on the water for our Military Veterans, Active Duty, Reserve and Wounded Warriors with the Sailing Center's drop-in class.  Novice or expert, come enjoy the camaraderie and a fun filled day at the Sailing Center.

Private Parties at the Sailing Center

Sundays · 12pm to 3pm

Rent the Sailing Center for a private party and celebrate your special day on the water.  It's a unique and active birthday party, and it's great for kids, teens and adults.
